ULTRA CHARTERS is a fishing or scuba diving charter service operating out of Bridge Harbor Yacht Club in Freeport, Texas. From Galveston it's a short and scenic 20 minuet drive south along the coast, (see map below). Ultra Charters is owned and operated by Capt. Al Manica. Capt. Al is a U.S. Merchant Marine Officer, U.S. Coast Guard licensed captain and a certified PADI dive master with over 20 years experience. DAS BOAT: "The Carolyn Jane" (pictured above) is a 37 ft. (42' loa) dependable Chris Craft sport fish/yacht, having a large cabin and spacious fore and aft decks complete with licensed U.S. Coast Guard captain and deckhand. She is also equipped with a sofa, galley, refrigerator, microwave and bathroom. The Carolyn Jane has the latest navigational electronics and rescue / safety equipment.
FISHING SITES: Oil rigs and or wrecks, are essentially artificial reefs and make excellent fishing locations. Some of the fish typically found around these sites are: snapper, ling, amberjack, king, grouper, pompano and sheep-head to name a few. The underwater structure of a rig in 100 ft. of water adds 3-4 acres of hard surface to the water column. They are covered with barnacles, encrusting sponges, bryozoans, and white hydroid or ivory coral and attract literally thousands of various types of marine life. Water clarity is typically 60' approximately. In addition to fishing around the oil rigs, Ultra charters will fish submerged structures, such as: salt domes and sunken wrecks. When fishing these sites primarily three methods will be utilized; drift, trolling, and stationary structure. SOME TRIP PREPARATION: These Fishing Day Trips typically have a 7:30 a.m. departure time and returns between 4:00 to 5:00 p.m.. Bring a light lunch and beverages, no coolers please, the boat is equipped with coolers and a refrigerator. Deckhand, fishing poles, tackle, bait and ice will be provided. FOOTWEAR: Please do not wear shoes that will mark the deck of the boat. Light colored sole tennis shoes, sandals or boat shoes are fine, dark colored or black rubber sole foot wear is a no–no, Thank you. ADDITIONAL ACCOMMODATIONS AT THE MARINA:- Fish cleaning tables with fresh running water - Showers and clean rest rooms - Convenience store - Ice - Restaurant located atop the third floor of the marinas main building, Outside wet bar and live entertainment on some weekends. TIPPING POLICY: All gratuities go to the deckhand and are in addition to the charter fee. These individuals work exceptionally hard so please be a generous tipper. We suggest the following rates for trips consisting of six passengers:

In the event you feel you do not have enough people in your group to do a charter, keep in mind that it is not unusual for us to schedule two or more smaller groups together in order to achieve a more cost effective price per person. MAP & DIRECTIONS TO THE FREEPORT DOCK: Heading east from Clute on 332, exit to right just before the Inter Coastal Waterway bridge. Cross left under bridge (Sailfish Rd.) and drive until you get to the Bridge Harbor Yacht Club entrance, then turn left after entering. From Galveston; travel southwest along Seawall Blvd. until you get to Surfside and the ICW bridge. Cross bridge and take your first left this will take you to Sailfish Rd, go left, maintain until you get to the BHYC entrance, then turn left after entering.
